Before you come at me — I get it. WordPress is popular, it's familiar, and every other web developer uses it. But popularity isn't the same as quality. WordPress was great in 2005 when the alternative was hand-coding HTML in Notepad. In 2026, there are far better ways to build a website. I don't use WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, or any third-party platform. I write real code.
§The Plugin Casino
WordPress itself is basically an empty shell. Want a contact form? Install a plugin. Want SEO tools? Plugin. Want your site to not get hacked? Plugin. Before you know it, you've got 25 plugins stacked on top of each other like a Jenga tower. Each plugin is written by a different developer, updated on a different schedule, and could conflict with any of the others at any time.
When a plugin update breaks your site at 2am on a Saturday, good luck getting support. You're relying on random third-party developers to keep your business running. That's not a strategy — that's a gamble.
§Security Is a Nightmare
WordPress sites get hacked constantly. Not because WordPress is inherently insecure, but because it's the biggest target on the internet. Hackers write automated bots that scan for WordPress sites with outdated plugins and known vulnerabilities. If you're not updating everything religiously — core, theme, and every single plugin — you're a sitting duck.
§Speed Costs You Customers
A typical WordPress site loaded up with a theme and a stack of plugins takes 4 to 7 seconds to open on a phone. That is unacceptable. Google says over half of mobile users bail if a page takes more than 3 seconds. A custom-built site opens in under 2 seconds because it only runs what it actually needs. No bloated theme, no add-ons firing in the background, no extra lookups on every page.
§What I Build Instead
Every site I deliver is built from scratch for your business. It is faster, safer, fully yours, and not tied to any platform or plugin store. It costs more upfront than a WordPress template, but it does not need constant patching, it will not get hacked through some random add-on, and it will not slow down as you add content. Your website is too important to be held together by plugins and prayers.
